Manns Chinese, Hollywood Blvd - 1992
Size: 165 cm x 117 cm (64 x 45 inches)
In the ‘20’s and ‘30’s, the famous Graumann’s Chinese theatre was a landmark in Hollywood. All the major film premieres were held there, and they sometimes still are. Over the years, the stars would be immortalized by placing their hands and signing their names into wet cement, while others had their names placed in a star set into the pavement. The theatre is now called Mann’s Chinese and the tradition continues. The people on the benches were actually photographed in Venice Beach, a few miles away, while the girl in red was modeling clothing outside a store on trendy Melrose Avenue.
